  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry.
  2. In a bowl, combine sugar, spices, and flour. Gently mix in apples, tomatoes, and lemon juice.
  3. Fill the pie shell with the mixture and dot with butter. Add the top crust and crimp edges.
  4. Brush with melted butter or cream and cut slits in the top crust.
  5. Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes or until crust is browned. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 1 hour.
