  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x9-inch pan.
  2. Beat eggs on high speed until thick and lemon-colored. Gradually add sugar, beating until sugar dissolves.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into egg mixture.
  4. Heat milk with butter until the butter melts; stir into the batter.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes.
  6. For topping, cream together brown sugar and butter. Stir in milk and coconut. Spread over the warm cake and broil 4–5 inches from heat until golden.
