HARVEST TORTE

Ingredients:

• 4 cups apples, diced (unpeeled)
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1 egg
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon melted butter or margarine
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
• 1/2 cup pitted dates, chopped, or 1/4 cup raisins

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Stir until thoroughly mixed (do not beat).
3. Pour into a baking dish and bake for 40 minutes or until apples are tender.
4. Test with a fork to ensure doneness.
5. Cut into squares and serve hot or cold with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
