CALICO COUNTRY BISCUITS

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. In a bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles meal.
  4. Stir in milk until combined.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly 20-25 times. Roll or pat dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
  6. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter. For soft sides, place biscuits close together on the baking sheet; for crusty sides, place 1 inch apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes approximately 20 biscuits.
