CHRISTMAS APPLESAUCE CAKE

Instructions:

  1. Lightly grease an angel food cake pan.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Heat applesauce until bubbling; stir in 1 tsp. baking soda. Add warm applesauce to the creamed mixture.
  4. Stir remaining 1 tsp. baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and salt into flour; then add flour to the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in candied fruit, nuts, and raisins.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until done.
  8. Let cool before removing from the pan.
