  1. Cream sugar and margarine thoroughly.
  2. Add eggs one at a time (ensure they're at room temperature).
  3. Mix flour, salt, and soda; stir in alternately with sour cream.
  4. Add vanilla and coconut; turn batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
  5. Bake at 325 degrees for 1–1 1/2 hours. Let mellow for 2 days, if possible.
