Instructions:

  1. Beat shortening, vanilla, sugars, and eggs until well combined.
  2. Mix in flour and baking soda, then add rolled oats and nuts.
  3. Form into 2 rolls, wrap in wax paper, and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Slice and place on a cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 12–15 minutes.
