DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening.
  2. Beat egg yolk in a measuring cup, then add enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Stir egg mixture into the flour mixture.
  3. On a floured surface, roll half of the dough to fit a 17 x 12 inch pan. Fit dough into the pan and sprinkle with corn flakes.
  4. Add sliced apples, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out the remaining dough to fit on top and seal edges; cut slits on top.
  6. Beat egg white until frothy and brush over the top dough.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for 45–50 minutes.
  8. Frost while still hot with powdered sugar mixed with milk.
