FROSTED MOLASSES CREAMS

Instructions:

  1. Cream shortening with sugar.
  2. Stir soda into molasses until it almost doubles in volume.
  3. Add salt and cinnamon to the sugar mixture, then stir in molasses mixture and hot water.
  4. Gradually stir in flour and let the batter stand undisturbed overnight.
  5. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface and cut with cookie cutters.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 11–12 minutes.
  7. Allow cookies to cool before frosting.
