BLACK WALNUT DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Sift together cake flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream shortening and sugar, then add melted chocolate.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  6. Stir in vanilla and black walnuts.
  7. Pour into greased pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
