MOLASSES SUGAR COOKIES

Instructions:

  1. Melt shortening in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  2. Add sugar, molasses, and egg to the cooled shortening, and beat well.
  3. Sift together the remaining dry ingredients and add to the first mixture. Mix well.
  4. Chill the dough thoroughly.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F. Form dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.
  6. Place on greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven immediately. Makes 4 dozen.
