APPLESAUCE COOKIES

Ingredients:

• ½ cup Shortening
• 1 cup Sugar
• 1 cup Applesauce
• 1 tsp Baking Soda
• 2 cups Flour
• ½ tsp Salt
• 1 cup Raisins
• 1 cup Chopped Nuts
• 1 tsp Cinnamon
• 1 tsp Vanilla
• ½ tsp Cloves

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Cream shortening and sugar, then add applesauce and blend well.
3. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and spices, then add to the first mixture, stirring until smooth.
4. Fold in raisins and nuts.
5. Drop by teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet.
6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 4 dozen.
