THUMBPRINT COOKIES

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar. Add the egg yolk and vanilla, then blend in flour and salt.
  3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Dip each ball into beaten egg white, then roll in chopped nuts.
  4. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and dent the center of each ball.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, remove from the oven, and dent again. Bake for another 12-15 minutes.
  6. Cool and fill with butter frosting. Makes about 3 dozen.
