SWEDISH MEATBALLS

  1. Combine meat, onion, seasonings, and egg. Dip bread in water, squeeze dry, crumble into small bits, and add to the mixture.
  2. Form into small balls, roll in flour, and brown in hot fat.
  3. Remove meatballs and pour off drippings. Add 2 tbsp flour to 2 tbsp drippings and stir until smooth.
  4. Gradually add water, stirring constantly until thickened. Boil for 3 minutes.
  5. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Adjust seasoning and serve.
