HUSH PUPPIES

  1. In a large bowl, mix together cornmeal, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add the beaten egg, onions, and buttermilk. Stir well.
  3. Drop the batter by tablespoon into deep hot oil (360-375°F). When the hush puppies float to the top, they are done.
  4. Remove from oil, drain, and serve hot. Makes 20-25 hush puppies.
