ORANGE BREAD

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together baking powder, flour, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add chopped nuts and candied orange peel to the dry ingredients.
  4. In another bowl, mix together melted Crisco, beaten egg, and milk.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just blended.
  6. Let the batter rise for 20 minutes.
  7. Pour into a greased baking tin and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, then increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
