JOHNNY CAKE

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups sour milk
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 1/2 cups white flour
• 2 cups cornmeal

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix until well blended.
3. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
4. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
