  1. Mix lukewarm milk, yeast, and 1 cup flour. Set in a warm place to rise.
  2. Add butter, sugar, beaten egg yolks, lemon rind, and salt to the risen mixture.
  3. Dredge raisins with a little flour and add to the mixture along with the remaining 3 cups of flour.
  4. Fold in beaten egg whites.
  5. Divide the dough into three parts. Roll each part, spread with butter, and braid.
  6. Cover with melted butter, sugar, and cut almonds.
  7. Bake slowly in a preheated tube or torte pan.
