  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Place 1 teaspoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar in each of 16 muffin sections.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, shortening, milk, and the beaten egg to form a dough.
  4. Roll the dough into an oblong shape, spread with a little butter and brown sugar.
  5. Roll up like cinnamon rolls and slice into 3/4-inch slices.
  6. Place slices in prepared muffin tins.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from tins immediately after baking.
