DATE BREAD

Instructions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar together.
  2. Add the egg and mix well.
  3. Pour boiling water over the dates and let stand for about 5 minutes.
  4. Dissolve baking soda in a little hot water and add to the date mixture.
  5. Add flour alternately with the date mixture to the creamed butter, sugar, and egg.
  6. Stir in chopped nuts.
  7. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
