Instructions:

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk.
  2. Add shortening and two cups of flour. Beat thoroughly.
  3. Add a well-beaten egg, remaining flour, and salt gradually.
  4. Turn dough onto a board, knead lightly.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise about two hours.
  6. Form into small biscuits, let rise until double.
  7. Brush with egg wash, bake for 20 minutes in a hot oven.
