  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare cupcake tins.
  2. Cream the butter thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add sugar and continue creaming.
  4. Add the well-beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.
  5. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add the dry ingredients alternately with milk to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition until smooth.
  7. Stir in vanilla.
  8. Fill cupcake tins and bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
