Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and beat well.
Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
Alternately add dry ingredients and sour milk to the creamed mixture.
Stir in raisins and walnuts.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter.
Pour into a prepared cake pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once cool, spread with raisin frosting.
