  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a cake pan.
  2. Cream shortening with sugar. Add eggs and beat well.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and sour cream to the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in raisins and nuts.
  6. Pour into the prepared pan and bake in a slow oven for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
