Cream butter, salt, and vanilla. Gradually add sugar and beat well.
Add eggs one at a time, then melted chocolate.
Sift together baking powder, baking soda, and flour. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture.
Stir in coconut.
Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake for about 70 minutes.
Prepare frosting by blending butter, salt, and vanilla. Beat in some sugar and add hot cream alternately with remaining sugar to achieve a spreading consistency.
Frost cooled cake.
