ORANGE ICE BOX COOKIES

Ingredients:

• 1 cup butter
• 2 cups sugar
• 6 tablespoons orange juice
• 2 tablespoons lemon juice
• 2 tablespoons grated orange rind
• 1 tablespoon lemon rind
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 3 eggs
• 1/2 cup chopped almonds
• 4 cups flour or more
• 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
• 1/2 teaspoon soda

Instructions:

1. Cream butter and sugar, add fruit juices, rinds, salt, and eggs. Beat 2 minutes.
2. Add remaining ingredients, chill thoroughly or overnight.
3. Cut off thin slices of dough and place 3 inches apart on a baking pan.
4. Bake 12 minutes in a moderate oven.
