MAPLE COOKIES

Ingredients:

• 2 cups brown sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 egg, well beaten
• 1 cup hot water
• 1/2 cup nuts
• 1 teaspoon soda
• 3 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions:

1. Mix ingredients in the order given.
2. Bake at 400°F.
