FILLED FRUIT COOKIES

Ingredients:

Dough:

• 2 cups sugar
• 2 beaten eggs
• 1 cup lard or butter (mixed)
• A little salt
• 1/2 cup sour milk
• 1 teaspoon soda (in milk)
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• Flour (enough to make a soft dough)

Filling:

• 1 cup boiling water
• 1 cup raisins
• 1 cup dates or figs (chopped fine)
• 1 teaspoon flour
• 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions:

1. Boil filling ingredients for 10 minutes.
2. Roll out dough and cut with a cookie cutter.
3. Place filling on top of one cookie and cover with another.
4. Bake as directed.
