BROWN COOKIES

Ingredients:

• 1 1/4 cups sugar
• 1 cup lard
• 1 cup molasses
• 3 eggs, beaten
• Pinch of salt
• 2 teaspoons soda in 1/4 cup hot water
• About 3 cups flour

Instructions:

1. Mix all ingredients except eggs and flour.
2. Cool the mixture, then add eggs and flour.
3. Roll out, cut with a cookie cutter, and bake in a moderate oven.
