CUSTARD BREAD PUDDING

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups bread, broken
• 1 slightly beaten egg
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• 1 teaspoon butter
• 1 pint scalded milk
• Dash of nutmeg and salt

Instructions:

1. Place bread in a buttered dish.
2. Mix the egg, sugar, butter, and milk. Pour the mixture over the bread.
3. Sprinkle the top with nutmeg.
4. Bake in a slow oven. For added flavor, mix in 1/2 cup applesauce before baking.
