Soak bread crumbs in milk and add eggs, sugar, salt, and spices.
Combine mixtures, add nut meats and raisins dredged with flour.
Sprinkle baking powder and beat thoroughly.
Steam for 3 hours.
For sauce, beat egg yolks until thick, gradually add half the sugar. Beat egg whites until stiff and add remaining sugar. Combine and add vanilla. Wine flavoring may also be used.
