RIPE CUCUMBER PICKLES

Instructions:

  1. Soak cucumbers in alum water, bring to a boil, then let stand off the heat for 2 hours.
  2. Prepare a syrup with vinegar, sugar, and spices (tied in a bag). Boil for 5 minutes.
  3. Add cucumbers to the syrup and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer cucumbers to a jar and pour the hot syrup over them. Reheat the syrup for the next three mornings and pour back over cucumbers.
